It's a question we get asked from time to time. The standard app is a once-only payment, updates are free and you get bug fixes and new features as regularly as we can make them. The FileBrowserGO app is subscription only and this allows you to try out the features free for two weeks after you sign up. Some of our customers like to support us regularly and the subscription model gives them the ability to keep doing that. Also we're adding extra features to FileBrowserGO as a way of saying thank-you to our subscribers. Much appreciated! Here's a comparison table of the features in our range of apps.
"Being able to access files on your computer or NAS remotely from your iPad or iPhone is always something people look forward to. It complements the purpose of having an iPad - the sheer pleasure and productivity of being able to remotely access files from an iPad/iPhone is literally the thing that makes these devices so much more professional and powerful."

The new backup feature adds to the automatic sync capabilities of these apps. You can now set a local folder to automatically back up its content to any remote storage, computer or cloud. This is great for ensuring you never lose files you've stored in the app, and you can also use it to back up all of your photos. Any folder in the Photo Library can be replicated, so you can choose Camera Roll or Moments to categorise by date and location. There's no limit to the number of backups, so make sure you save your important stuff!
"We are all addicted to tutorials; at least, I know I am. I'm also addicted to food, so I need to double up my free time. My goal was to come up with an easy way to watch all the tutorials on my iPad. Sure, you could copy the tutorial files onto your iPad, but if you are like me and have a lot more content than would fit on the iPad and don't want to keep putting on and taking it off, there is a better way!"

FileBrowser is covered in this week's TWiT TV episode of iOS Today. Megan Morrone and Jason Snell from Six Colors and MacWorld call FileBrowser "a big deal and a missing piece" in iOS. Find out how Jason uses it in this podcast titled "The Perfect iPad Set Up".
All versions of FileBrowser just got a refreshed look for grid mode. The new cleaner layout now puts file names on the view and harmonises it with the corresponding view in the iOS Files app. We've also added more options to the view menu so it's easier to customise your experience...
We love this review by Giacomo of The Nerdy Student blog. He gives a great overview of the app and then talks about a few of its key features. If you're a blogger and would like a review code, please email us with your details and the URL of the blog..

FileBrowser Professional lets you access the iXpand Drive from Files app direct. You know how when you plug a USB drive into your Mac, it just shows up in the Finder? Now that works on your iPad too.

Federico Viticci, founder at MacStories.net, has written a great article about the new 12.7 release of FileBrowser Professional. He focuses on the new FTP and SFTP file permissions features and also the new ability to browse iXpand USB storage directly from the Files app.

The latest FileBrowser Professional app now supports Google Team Drives. These cloud storage areas are more like conventional shared disks for Google App Suite users. FileBrowser Professional allows you to perform any of it's powerful file management tasks on the files and folders in a Team Drive so you and your colleagues can collaborate more easily as a result.
The new iOS11 update coming soon is huge. So many new features, and we're going to integrate them fully with FileBrowser and FileBrowser Professional. For instance, the new Files app is a great way to access content stored in FileBrowser. And the new drag and drop feature will be amazing!
We love to receive emails from our users and we were really pleased to get this one: "I'm a graphic designer/web developer, and because of the onset of arthritis in my hands, my iPad is now a key development tool, as working with a mouse or trackpad is generally quite painful. FileBrowser allows me to work on my iPad, and share things seamlessly with any resource I need: something that would otherwise be a pain in the butt on iOS. Again, thank you: your efforts have made a difference in my working life."
Many businesses need to ensure their teams have up to date information available at any time, even when no network is available. So we added a new synchronisation feature to FileBrowser Professional version 8.9 to make this possible. You can easily set up a folder to be synchronised and every file and subfolder will automatically be replicated onto the iPad or iPhone for offline access. It's also possible to synchronise individual files. Sync from any server or cloud storage too. The setup is integrated with FileBrowser Professional' MDM settings feature so updating a fleet of devices with synchronised files is now really easy.
We can't wait for Apple to upload our new update. This version has a new audio recording feature that takes a recording and saves it to the current folder, whether that's on the iPad or a computer or cloud. Also we've added the ability to annotate images on any storage too. There are loads of other improvements and fixes so be sure to update when Apple make it available!
Use the new WebDAV server in FileBrowser 8.2 to share My Files across WiFi! Just switch the server on in Config and on the other device, create a WebDAV connection to log on and access files. Perfect when you need to share stuff with someone else's iPad or iPhone.
We are pleased to announce version 2.9 of MusicStreamer. This update contains a new feature that we're sure many users will be delighted with. If you have music libraries on multiple computers or drives or you want to play music when you're at a friend's house, simply switch between libraries.
Our FileBrowser app icons needed a refresh so we've come up with updated designs for all versions of FileBrowser. Our new icons should fit in nicely with your system apps right on your home screen. We've chosen colour to differentiate the versions, so blue is for standard FileBrowser, orange for the Business version and school bus yellow for the Education version. Along with new icons, the 8.2 update also has new features and fixes:
Many more too - download the update today!
Many professional photography tools create XMP metadata in 'sidecar' files, one for each image, and these contain data about the source of the image and any processing carried out on it. FileBrowser Professional can now display categorised information from XMP files and you can also update a photo's rating using the new dialog. We've had lots of requests for this feature so we hope all the professional photographers out there find this useful. Being able to sort through your images wherever they are stored and rate them instantly should make life much easier!
If you have FileBrowser and would like to upgrade to our FileBrowser Professional app, our new FileBrowser Professional Bundle allows you to get the business version by only paying the price difference. The iTunes store will prompt you to complete the bundle. Also if you've previously purchased FileBrowser Professional, you can get this bundle free so you can use standard FileBrowser for personal files and FileBrowser Professional for work!
Need to show a PDF file on your TV? FileBrowserTV for AppleTV4 now has a really smooth PDF viewer. Use this for presentations with images and videos to tell your story, or show board game instructions on the TV while you play! Click to zoom and swipe to pan across a page and there's also an index screen you can double click to open to make it really easy to select any page quickly.
Don't ever let the music stop with MusicStreamer's new random play mode. Tap the repeat icon to switch to the new random play feature. In this mode, every time a track ends, a new one will be added to the Play Queue. You can even control what kind of track is randomly chosen by selecting a genre or doing a name search in the albums list.
Simply connect from AppleTV4 to your NAS, Windows or Mac and view your photos, see videos and play music. You can even create a slideshow! FileBrowserTV is the best way to get your content up on the big screen. In the new version you'll be able to view PDF files too.
"MusicStreamer is easily one of the best music streaming apps available for the iOS operating system. This app allows simple and automatic synchronization between your device and your PC. Now there's no need to save all of your CDs into your iTunes library, so you can save the room for the other great apps you love."

The new update to MusicStreamer is now out, and the headline feature in this version is search. Just type in what you're looking for and MusicStreamer will show albums, artists and tracks that match. For users with large music collections, being able to instantly find that track you need is now quick and easy. Also in this version is a random tracks feature that creates surprising play lists from your entire collection!
FileBrowser Professional now has an annotation feature for users who want to add their own mark-ups to PDFs. This is great for collaborating with a team on shared documents. The types of annotations that can be created in FileBrowser are text boxes, a highlighter, freehand pens and an eraser. Once you are finished annotating, FileBrowser will save a copy of your document into the same directory as the original file, to avoid overwriting the original.
"Music Streamer is easily one of the best music streaming apps available for the iOS operating system. This app allows simple and automatic synchronization between your device and your PC. Now there's no need to save all of your CDs into your iTunes library, so you can save the room for the other great apps you love."
We just sent version 6.3 of FileBrowser, FileBrowser Professional and FileBrowser Lite to Apple for release. There are lots of new features packed into this release, including support for SFTP, home screen shortcut icons, a new PDF viewer, opening animated GIF files and more. Let's hope Apple approve it soon!
With the new Home Screen links function in FileBrowser Professional 6, you can create new app icons that jump straight to your folders or documents. Why not create groups of them on your home screen to make finding and managing your files even easier?
Version 5.4 of FileBrowser is now available! In this version we've responded to many users requests for new file view modes. On iPhone, there's now a grid mode so you can see more files on screen and also see much bigger thumbnails of pictures. On the iPad there is also a columns mode so files are listed with full details in up to three columns.
Another great feature is the new fast scroller. If you're trying to find a file in a folder containing hundreds of items, slide your finger up and down the right hand edge of the screen to quickly scroll through the folder.
More updates are coming, and yes, we are working on iOS8 specific features too!
The latest issue of iPad User magazine features FileBrowser in their fantastic tutorial series. 'FileBrowser Unmasked' covers everything from connection setup to media playback, explaining it all in easy language. Plenty of screenshots of the "Teal" user interface theme too. They say the app is "worth every penny of its £3.99 asking price". Thanks guys! See the review in issue 10 of the magazine, available on iTunes:iPad User on iTunes
FileBrowser 5.1 is now available on the App Store, and it's packed with new features that we've already had many appreciative comments about. People love the new "Dark" theme colours which offer a focused iOS7 style view over your file systems. Of course the major new feature is Google Drive support, offering what we think is the most intuitive system for handling Google Drive documents. When you view a document, it's automatically converted to PDF for the best viewing experience, and when you copy a document to other storage or open it in another app, it's automatically converted to an Office format (Word, Excel etc) for editing. You have control over these options in the settings as well. Being able to organise, view, edit and back up or move your Google drive content to other storage has never been easier!
