How to Find Your Mac Computer Name

If FileBrowser cannot find your Mac when scanning the network, it usually means the Mac’s computer name cannot be resolved or does not match what is visible on the local network.

In most cases, the Mac is still available — but the name FileBrowser is using does not match the Mac’s actual network identifier.

This guide shows how to find your Mac’s correct name and fix connection issues.

  1. Open the System Settings app
  2. Click "General" then "Sharing"
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the list and under the "Local hostname" section click the "Edit..." button.".
  4. In the popup window, the computer name and DNS domain suffix will be shown.
    e.g. john-smiths-macbook.local

Enter this into straight into FileBrowser's "Name or URL" field
Backup your Photos to pCloud from your iPhone / iPad
