Use SMB Connection Strings with Windows Vista

If you are connecting to a Windows Vista PC or accessing shared folders on your network, you may need to use an SMB connection string to correctly identify the location of the share.

The following examples show how to convert various connection strings for use by Filebrowser.

Example 1

A UNC path used with Windows Explorer, such as
    \\server\share\folder1\folder2

Example 2

A URL used with Mac Finder, such as
    smb://server/share/folder1/folder2

Example 3

A URL containing a fully-qualified server name, such as
smb://server.company.com/share/folder1/folder2
