Windows 7 “Too Many Files” When Browsing Shared Folders Over Network (SMB)

When connecting to a Windows 7 PC over the network using SMB, you may notice that a shared folder appears to contain “too many files”.

FileBrowser could be displaying all hidden and system files which you don't normally see when you browse directly on the machine in Windows Explorer.

To hide these files in FileBrowser, use the following steps:

  1. Tap the 'Menu' button.
  2. Tap the 'Config' tab at the bottom.
  3. Scroll down to the 'File Browsing Preferences' section.
  4. Switch off 'Show Hidden Files'.
  5. Switch off 'Show System Files'.
